Match Report:

A cold windy afternoon in Stanton Harcourt was eventually won by the home side in a competitive even match which could have been won by either side. Chipping norton were invited to bat first, & plenty made starts with only M. Tompkins (44) getting past 20 with some hard hitting before eventually holing out picking the man on the boundary perfectly. Stantonís fielding & catching was brilliant despite the cold conditions & kept the total below 200. In reply none of Stantonís top order could get in & wickets fell quickly although the extraís count was keeping them in the game. When the 3rd wicket fell the score was 32-3 off 8 despite only 5 runs coming off the bat! Some rebuilding in a 45 run partnership between J souch (37) & S Hadland (13) followed by some clever hitting from K Paintin (31) kept Stanton in the game, with some power hitting from I Vaughan at the end taking them over the line. A very enjoyable game, between two competitive sides. Good luck to chippy for the season.
