Match Report:

Stonesfield won the toss and after 10 weeks of indoor nets & two friendlies, looked razor sharp! Openers Moss & Hatton raced to a 50 partnership in the 8th over before the 1st wicket fell at 63/1. Deddi regretted ping Mark Hatton at mid-on in his 20s, and twice more later as he had a blinder as everything found the middle of his bat on a very flat track. He batted all 40 overs for an extraordinary 143no inc 20x4s! The 2nd wicket partnership with Ben Hayes was worth 131 before young Jack Friday produced a good ball to dismiss Hayes for 71, the innings closed at a mammoth 277/2.

In response Deddington batted with great spirit & determination. Experienced openers Oldfield & Webb looked comfortable as they nullified Stoney’s seam attack in reaching 60-odd without loss - the track was looking even flatter! The breakthrough finally came after 22 overs when Stoney skipper Moss pulled off a fine catch at mid-off from the bowling of spinner Scott Thomas the door was at last ajar! Thomas then went through the middle order with a terrific spell to notch a league debut ‘five-for’, and Newman picked up 4 wickets with his inswing, as the final wicket at last fell in the 37th over.

An enjoyable game well umpired, best of luck to Deddington this season.
